Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager

Atlantic Design, Inc is an established leader in the design of custom equipment for the blasting and coating industry.
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to help lead our growing company in designing our grit reclamation systems and other industry equipment types (dust collectors, vacuum systems, etc.
) for both inhouse and outsourced manufacturing.

This is a full-time position with benefits.
Starting salary will be $105,000 to $125,000, based on depth of engineering and project management experience.
Job
Responsibilities:
Provide project management support for relevant projects and allocating engineering resources as appropriate.
Analyze customer proposals / specifications and work with engineering team to determine appropriate design.
Create design concepts from scratch with accompanying highly manufacturable schematic drawings to specification with clear details for both inhouse or outsourced fabrication and leveraging prior successful work for the same.
Provide leadership of equipment design process, ensuring objectives, goals and commitments (ie cost, performance, risk and schedule) are met.
Maturing designs through layouts, details, assemblies, part and material selection through to final fabrication stage.
Manage ordering, project timelines and delegating tasks.
Create and maintain Bill of Material lists in inventory software for parts and production departments to utilize during manufacturing to maintain warehouse inventory and full machine costing accuracy.
Help identify/source other components as needed for complete unit functionality and proving information to purchasing department.
Interface directly with customers to set project expectations.
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and general quality engineering standards of functionality in design.
Education, Experience, and Licensing RequirementsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or Master's would be greatly valued).
5-10 years' experience working in an engineering capacity.
Minimum 5 years' experience in project management and providing leadership to other engineers.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer would be a plus.
CAD or Solidworks software experience preferred.
Inventory software knowledge would be a plus.
Skills /
Qualifications:
Experience with weld joint design and efficiency.
Must be able to self-prioritize projects by checking in with sales and production to constantly reevaluate customer needs, production capabilities and supply chain delays.
Excellent communication skills:
ability to communicate clearly with various levels of mechanical experience/knowledge, from welders/fitters to end-use customers.
Must be able to walk around our production facility to examine equipment as being built and assist shop mechanics with troubleshooting design issues.
Dependable with strong attention to detail.
Must be willing to work overtime if needed to meet project deadlines (remote overtime capabilities will be provided).
Must be able to take initiative and see projects through to completion.
Must be able to pass Drug screening test.
