Registered Nurse Quality Mgmt Education Manager

Job Summary Coordinates, plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs designed to meet the assessed needs of MedStar Health Ambulatory Staff and patients in a continuing effort to ensure quality care and maintain current standards of practice.
Serves as a resource/consultant/ facilitator to others in MedStar Health.
Collaborates with leadership, content experts and staff to facilitate learner's achievement of educational goals.
Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience 3 years clinical experience with progressively responsible positions in an Ambulatory healthcare setting in the area of staff education and training.
Experience to include curriculum development and program evaluation and revision in clinical and classroom setting.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Project Management experience preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Valid RN license in the State of Maryland.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic math skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assesses learning needs of staff and clients using a variety of sources; analyzes the results and disseminates findings from the needs assessment to Ambulatory leadership.
Collaborates with sites, QI, case management, social work, disease state management, physicians and staff to develop needed programs.
Assists individual, departments and work teams in designing and facilitating educational activities through consultation with content experts.
Supports growth opportunities, utilizing the Assessment and Development System.
Functions as a resource person to staff in problem-solving related to area of expertise.
Provides clinical and didactic instruction to facilitate incorporation of class content into work practice or activities of daily living.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.
Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Designs learning environment, develops instructional objectives, content, teaching, methodologies, audiovisual support, participant handout, and evaluation tool to achieve optimal outcomes.
Maintains flexibility in teaching to optimize outcomes.
Develops and utilizes evaluation tools which are individualized to the particular educational activity.
Considers learner satisfaction, changes in performance related to program attendance and measurement of organizational outcomes, where appropriate.
Revises educational program based on compiled evaluative data.
Develops, updates and teaches formal orientation program and preceptor programs.
Onboards new practices as well as new employees and includes clinical assessment, mentoring and monitoring.
Responsible for new employee clinical orientation and ad hoc training for new onboarded practices and Simulation Lab training.
Reviews and maintains all mandatory and recommended education modules for all clinical staff.
In conjunction with leadership and target audience plans educational opportunities to meet identified needs and supports the learner's achievement of required competencies.
Assures that educational objectives are measurable and realistic.
Mentors staff, clients, and leadership to facilitate incorporation of class content into performance or achievement of healthy lifestyle.
Develops and provides ongoing coaching to staff and clients with the goal of improving critical thinking skills.
Provides feedback regarding participant performance to the participant and other appropriate individuals as necessary.
Communicates educational outcomes to appropriate leadership.
Oversees minor patient safety events in the patient safety event system including root cause analysis and provides just in time education.
Makes improvement and prevention recommendations and monitors for compliance.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams including MedStar Medical Group Patient Advisory Council, Ambulatory Best Practice Committee, Pediatric Best Practice Committee, Emergency Preparedness Workgroup, and Corporate and Diversified Safety Committees.
Participates in quality improvement activities, enforcement of regulatory compliance, and correction action on workflow issues.
Identifies educational needs, communication/team work issues and work flow problems.
Provides coaching, counseling, advise and mentoring to implement improvements.
Defines the appropriate use of huddles for medical home and safety.
Instructs clinical support staff to adapt medical home ideals to clinical practice.
Participates in yearly policy review and advisement.
Holds yearly Clinical Workshops supporting all clinical support staff across MMG.
Enforces infection control standards and instruction.
Mentors and serves as a role model for all clinical support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs site surveys and environment of care inspections.
Conducts action planning, regulatory maintenance and introduction of new devices/programs and point of care testing.
Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the liquid nitrogen policy and ongoing proficiency/competency testing on all point of care testing programs.
Provides expertise for program planning, implementation and evaluation of outcomes.
Provides Just in Time education for all staff members and serves as a launching point to plan future education experiences.
Assesses learning needs, communicates concerns and safety issues, and responds to education needs as identified or arise.
Supports the expansion of skills that enable clinical support staff to function at the fullest scope of practice.
Provides, monitors, and teaches Sim Lab training and ensures yearly review of instruction and clinical practices are current with CDC guidelines.
Responsible for new employee clinical orientation at the Simulation Lab in addition to initial skills assessment.
Ensures participation of clinical support staff and organizes proctors for Sim Lab.
Ensures the clinical competence of all staff and compliance with regulations and CDC guidelines.
Responsible for topic selection and roll out for ongoing educational needs of clinical support staff and office staff.
Performs High Reliability Program rollout across all of ambulatory division (not just MMG) and maintenance of that program.
Provides the education and training for the Safety Coach program.
Assures safety huddles are performed daily, including safety moment introspective and reflective commentary on high reliability issues and preventative strategies.
Provides presentations at multidisciplinary meetings, committees and Boot Camp as well as corporate presentations and updates.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
